Hi There!

Gonzalo Guzman (he/him) is a queer Latinx photographer and writer based in Chicago. His work explores the experience of Latinx communities and the impact they have in the shaping of the current American landscape. Focused on fostering empathy and maintaining the authenticity of his collaborators, he hopes to share stories that broaden the perspectives of his viewers. Gonzalo's words and images have been published in The Chicago Reader, Eater, Block Club Chicago, Borderless Magazine and WTTW.

Gonzalo is a strong advocate for creating a more diverse creative community in the photo industry. In 2020 he co-developed a workshop on the importance of those in hiring positions to commit to hiring more diverse crews by giving entry level opportunities and pathways to growth for BIPOC talent. Since then he has developed numerous workshops and networking opportunities for BIPOC photographers and crew to learn, connect, and grow together as they navigate the world of professional photography. He has spoken on panels and lectured on the subject and currently serves as Columbia College Chicago's photo, fashion and fine arts career advisor. In this role he creates dynamic programing and educational opportunities for students to learn how to craft their own careers in their creative industries.

Gonzalo is open to photo and writing commissions focused on Latino creatives, entrepreneurs, and culture. He is specifically seeking out any stories related to the history of Mexican food and how it has been shaped by American culture.

He is also open to speaking/teaching opportunities with a focus on entry level-pathways into the photo industry, developing personal projects, intentional community building, and creating a more diverse photo industry.
